Dr. Ankur Patel dons a hat with multiple feathers; needless to mention that each of them is hard earned through sheer perseverance, passion and pragmatism. Celebrated as a multifaceted personality, he is a physician, author, speaker and influencer. He is on a mission to touch more lives and share his knowledge with millions of people in order to impact them for their own good. No wonder his transition into becoming an author, speaker and influencer along with being a physician came by as an obvious extension at this juncture. His wide spectrum of expertise, interests and mindful indulgences has brought a remarkable uniqueness to his works. A winner of a number of awards and achievements, Dr. Patel is now out with his first book called ‘AGE IS JUST A NUMBER' - A Geriatrician’s Secrets for Getting the Most Out of Life’. The selling of his book will also raise charity fund for the organizations that work towards the wellness of senior citizens.
Dr. Patel’s journey of a thousand miles began by first holding a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from North Gujarat University in India. He then earned his medical degree from St. James School of Medicine in Netherlands Antilles and MBA from Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts, his Family Medicine residency from University of Alabama - Huntsville and Geriatric fellowship from Easter Virginia Medical school in Norfolk, VA. Today, he is a renowned geriatrician, family physician and pharmacist. He has more than nine years of experience in caring for the elderly in multiple settings, including acute care, post-acute care, nursing home and Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). He has previously also served as the Medical Director of PACE program, Acute care of elders unit, Population Health and Clinical Advisor for Innovations

INSPIRATION THAT LIVES BEYOND A LIFETIME

Ask him that and the reply comes with a fond twinkle in his eyes. “My independent, spiritual, educated and motivated grandmother has been my biggest inspiration. I used to call her ‘Ba’ in my mother tongue. She had happily devoted her life towards helping others and passed away as a hale and hearty nonagenarian. Well, she was my Mother Teresa”, says Dr. Patel. The soothing combination of sensitivity and sensibility that he has imbibed from his Ba comes as a breather for many. “She had told me that if I ever felt confused or challenged about how to treat a patient, I should think about how I would treat her if she were my patient. This simple mantra still works like a charm every time I am in a dilemma. I care for my patients the way I would care for my Ba”, shares Dr. Patel. An avid listener of positive messages and motivational speakers, one can tell that Dr. Patel has been blessed by his Ba in more than one ways. He is now here to pass on that goodness and wisdom to the rest of the world.
